'Sunday's Portrait' is a self portrait that acts as a sequel to 'Sunday's Best'. I use the same motif I made in 'Sunday's Best': painted rainbows on the eyelids. The reason I created a secondary look at this concept was to show that the same issues we hold as children are carried on into our adulthood. I purposefully designed this painting using my own face and body to put myself and my in a more vulnerable light.
While I used similar background colors here (pink and blue), I made them less saturated and bright and left a wooden border with spilled coffee to give a sense of jadedness. The background for the figure in 'Sunday's Best' feels open and bright. But in this painting, I painted the composition to feel compressed and 'boxed in'.
