Today I installed my first solo exhibition at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. I took a few photos with my sad excuse of a camera (see below). But, if you live near Birmingham, I highly suggest making your way to the gallery space in front of the auditorium and dining spaces at the Botanical Gardens to see it! Okay, I admit I'm a little biased. But it really is a great space and I am so honored to have the opportunity to display my work there for both July and August of this year.
I have rediscovered my love for still life paintings. My fair share of still life paintings occurred mostly in my elementary years. But of course, I've strengthened my skill level since then. So hey, let's give this a shot. These four specifically were so much fun to create. I love the dramatic lighting on ordinary objects. I believe that compositions like these make you look at your environment on a daily basis just a little differently -- a little more appreciation for the simple things in life.
